Luke from Leisure Coast Bait & Tackle at Corrimal said another mixed bag of pretty horrible conditions over the last week allowed only a couple of days of good fishing to go ahead.

Kiama Game Fishing Club held their annual tournament again last weekend and big congratulations to Wollongong Game boat “Stainless Still” which took out Champion boat Tag and Release section for most sharks and Junior T & R with crew Tim Smith, young Jackson Smith, Greg Berea and Pete Burnside.
There was heaps of radio chatter indicating good dolphin fish and blue marlin on the score sheets despite the conditions, especially last Sunday.
Closer to home the current made for some tough fishing on the inshore reefs but there were some good snapper about nonetheless.
The better fish were still in close with depths of 20 metres and less seeming the most productive.
Lucannus and micro jigs did a lot of the damage on these reds and a close second was fresh strips of frigate mackerel fished with a paternoster rig.
The flathead drifts were also hard work but a few boats found some quality fish in close off Bellambi beach and also Towradgi - virtually just behind the breakers with some solid fish in the mix over the 60-centimetre mark.
The rocks fished really well for drummer and bream last weekend with some solid pigs landed in the washes as well as quite a few blue nose bream.
The northern-facing headlands were the go-to spots with the southerly swell pounding away.
A steady burley mix with royal reds and or cunje did the job keeping the fish in the zone.
There were quite a few soapy mulloway caught last week off numerous beaches but alas the big ones still haven’t shown up just yet unless lucky anglers are keeping very mum on their results.
Plenty of good by-catch though with some big whiting and bream about as well as some solid dusky flathead that have most certainly been washed out of a few of the creeks these last couple of weeks.
The coastal water temperature is still warm enough to fish.
