The theme for World Health Day in 2017 is “Depression: Let’s Talk” and Peoplecare wants to encouraged all enterprises and organisations in the Illawarra to offer effective mental health support services to their employees and members.
Peoplecare continues to remain at the forefront of facilitating the delivery of healthcare services through its innovative delivery of mental health support including its Mental Health Program for employees and the MindStep program for members.
Chief executive Michael Bassingthwaighte said it was an important issue because each year around one million Australians will suffer from depression and over two million will experience anxiety.
Peoplecare’s Mental Health Program involves all Peoplecare managers receiving coaching from a psychologist on best practice in recognising mental health issues and how to refer team members to treatment if required.
Mr Bassingthwaighte says mental health was a key Work Health and Safety focus at Peoplecare.
“In a move to offer effective support to all our employees, and to create a mentally healthy workplace, we have created a robust program of initiatives that sit under our Mental Health Program,” he said.
