It is an epic 1880km journey to raise money for north-west Queenslanders hit by cyclone Debbie.
Doug’s final leg was a 121km walk-cycle from Cloncurry to Mount Isa.
The self-confessed fitness fanatic has been regularly updating his followers on Facebook with photos and videos of his progress, encouraged anyone to join in the final leg.
“There's a party on the Barkly Highway today all day long & you are all invited. BYO costume, no Forest Gumps, that's mine 🍺 💪 👣 Getting it done...#GoldCoast2MtIsa” said Doug in a post on Facebook.
He touched base with MP Robbie Katter on the final stretch and enjoyed a few refreshments on Wednesday night.
Doug’s epic journey began on March 29 and has taken him across highways and desert lands to reach his goal, with little fuss along the way.
A slight hitch near the beginning caused a brief halt in Roma when Doug’s support crew of one dropped out, but he soon found a replacement driver.
He dedicated Wednesday morning’s video update to his sponsors and supporters, and his “beautiful girlfriend, Megan” who has been managing the media side of the marathon.
So far Doug has raised $2036 but hopes to make it to $10,000.
