The Rays broke through for their first victory against Manly United last after starting the season with two losses and will now look to double the dosage at Blacktown Football Park.
Coach Brett Wallin felt the Spartans would provide a difficult challenge.
“We are expecting a very physical encounter,” he said.
“They have skill all over the park and some very good young players. The big issue for us will be the pitch which is a different kind of artificial surface to all the others in the league. It very bouncy and hard to control so it can become a bit of a scrappy affair.”
The Spartans are in fourth spot and three points clear of Illawarra heading into the clash. A win for the Stingrays would close that gap. Illawarra will be without Chloe Middleton while Matilda Michelle Heyman is an outside chance to return.
