Nicole Evans is in an induced coma at The Alfred hospital where she was flown for specialist treatment, including surgery for burns to more than 50 per cent of her body.

Tasmania Police allege her fiance, Matthew John Davey, doused her with an accelerant and set her alight at a house in Chigwell in Hobart's northern suburbs on Monday.

Mr Davey, 34, has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and two counts of common assault. An interim family violence order and restraint order have been lodged with the court.

Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Craig Joel said Ms Evans would undergo surgery on Thursday and would require treatment in Melbourne for "many months".

A GoFundMe page set up to "help little Nikki and her family" has already raised more than $3000.

"On Monday night the 24th of April, 2017 a precious daughter, a sister, an aunt and my beautiful soul of a friend Nicole was allegedly set alight by her fiance," it reads.

"Not only will she need endless surgery, treatments, physical and mental help if she pulls through this horrible and heartbreaking tragedy, but it will be ongoing for the rest of her life and also for her family."

Sheena McLean, who set up the page, described Ms Evans on the page as "quiet and shy at times", "a joker, a natural beauty" and "one of the most caring, forgiving and loving people I know". 

Mr Davey has been remanded in custody to appear in the Supreme Court on June 13.
