But this has lead to one really big problem. Decision Paralysis.Nobody is making a decision.
Ours is a generation stuck and stifled, afraid that there was always going to be a better option.
Last week I had a few days off work sick, and my binge-watching was severely affected by DP.
I have AppleTV at home, which means I have access to an entire iTunes universe, Netflix, YouTube, Stan, and more.
There is so much great TV available, I just can't decide lest I waste time watching one thing when I would have preferred another.
I'll decide to purchase a show on iTunes but stop myself because there's a hundred free TV series on Netflix.
The idea of embarking on a critically acclaimed 8 season series...that is such a big commitment and I already feel too far behind the times.
I'll decide on a doco and realise I'm in the mood for some comedy. I'll spend 45 minutes watching movie trailers, buy which time my dinner is cold and I'm already yawning, the golden window of film-viewing opportunity closed.
So what do you do when you can't decide? You revert to type, so I inevitably wind up watching some sensational C-grade reality TV, like Mail Order Murder, 1000 Ways to Die, Wife Swap, Doomsday Bunkers, and Most Haunted. Like I said, there's a lot of really great TV available.
I don't know the secret to choosing the right show, but I do know this...relationships where one person is a mail order bride have a much higher rate of murder than those which are not. Oh, and roadkill makes for a really great meal in end-of-the-world scenarios.
