An Albion Park teen has fronted court accused of trying to blackmail an underage girl who allegedly sent him naked pictures of herself via social media.

Laughlan Clarke-Jeffries was arrested on March 24 after the alleged victim reported the incident to police.

Police will allege Clarke-Jeffries demanded the teen pay him $500 in February this year or he would publish the naked photos online.
The 18-year-old has been formally charged with one count each of using a carriage service to procure a child for sexual activity, using a carriage service to solicit child pornography and demanding with menace, with intent to obtain a gain or cause a loss.
He fronted Wollongong Local Court for the first time on Tuesday but did not enter any pleas to the charges.
The case was adjourned to June 28 for the brief of evidence to be served on defence lawyers.
