Now, the building could be modified to serve the new residents moving in to Bulli Brickworks, with plans to transform it into a fitness centre recently lodged with Wollongong City Council.
Dale Fritz of Functional 45 Training has submitted plans to use the club as a gymnasium and for outdoor fitness classes.
According to the plans, the site is close to transport, walking distance to the town centre, and close to new homes at the Brickworks site.
If approved, it would open from 5am to 8pm weekdays and from early morning until 11.30am on weekends.
Class sizes would be capped at 25 clients.
The plans will be on exhibition through the council’s website until May 15.
