The British chart-topper will be performing one-man shows across Australia and New Zealand in March 2018, following on from the success of recent album Divide, Frontier Touring has announced.

The tour will see Sheeran playing Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on March 10, Sydney's ANZ Stadium on March 16, and Perth's yet-to-be unveiled 60,000-seat Perth Stadium on March 3, among other capital cities. Considering the singer has sold out all gigs across four previous tours to our shores, other dates are expected to be announced.  

Divide has been a huge hit for the British singer-songwriter since its release in March.  

The album smashed worldwide streaming records on Spotify upon its release, earning almost 57 million streams on its first day alone. Already three times platinum in Australia, it was only recently knocked off the top of the ARIA albums chart by Bliss N Eso's new Off The Grid after a seven-week stint at #1, with all 16 tracks also charting in the ARIA Top 40 singles chart.

The tour, which will feature Sheeran alone onstage with his "guitar and effects pedal", also promises a tidy windfall for the singer. His last local trip, 2015's X Tour, pulled in around $10 million revenue across a 13-date stint that took in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.   

Presale tickets for next year's gigs, capped at around $165 for A-level spots, go on sale on May 16, with general tickets on-sale from May 23.

The 26-year-old - who has been plagued by plagiarism claims throughout his career, including a $US20 million lawsuit over hit single Photograph that was settled just last month - recently revealed his earlier wild-boy touring antics threatened to derail his career.

"It was my cousin actually who said he was leaving if it didn't calm down," Sheeran told BBC Radio 4 last week, about the "girls and the drugs and the booze" that caused him to "lose myself for a bit".

"I'm now at an age where I get taken seriously musically, which has always been a burden on my shoulders," he added.

It's perhaps not the attitude his more obsessive fans are after, but a promising sign for the tour nonetheless.
