Networked centre of excellence in ambulatory and primary health care at Port Kembla Hospital to support the increased service profile at Shellharbour. Ten million dollars already committed to commence development at the Shellharbour site.
Port Kembla and Kiama hospitals: Continuation of previous plans to redevelop in support of critical mass for increased services at Shellharbour. Port Kembla to be a centre of excellence in ambulatory and primary health care. Focus on the provision of community health services such as child and family health, wound clinics, chronic disease management, community and home nursing.
SHOALHAVEN
Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital: Major non-metropolitan hospital. Acute hospital hub for the Shoalhaven community. Networked teaching and research role. Current $34 million expansion of cancer care services. Identified need for mental health beds.
David Berry and Milton-Ulladulla hospitals: David Berry specialising in palliative care. Milton-Ulladulla to continue its current role: emergency care and low-complexity acute services. Community-based health services such as child and family health, wound clinics, chronic disease management, community and home nursing.
