Cunningham MP Sharon Bird announced the Volunteer Grants funding – totalling $92,921 – this week.
The Illawarra Dragon Boat Club and the region’s surf life saving clubs were among the big winners.
The boat club will receive $4500 for computer equipment and to assist with fuel costs, while the Towradgi Surf Life Saving Club gets $4995 for electronic equipment, furniture and appliances.
Ms Bird said volunteers played a vital role in the community and the grants – between $1000 and $5000 – would help with the cost of equipment, training and transport.
“Our local surf clubs have used this funding to purchase safety equipment, sporting clubs have purchased sporting gear and many local groups have purchased computers,” she said.
