They joined teachers and a number of parents in taking part in the annual National Walk Safely to School Day.
Now in its 18th year, the community initiative aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long term well-being of children.
The event encourages primary school aged children to build walking into their daily routine, by walking to and from school every day.
Pedestrian Council of Australia chairman Harold Scruby said it was vital parents and carers teach children how to cross roads safely, especially around buses, from an early age.
