Trout anglers are reminded the annual closure of all flowing waters in NSW for trout fishing will come into effect on the June long weekend.
Please refresh yourself with current rules/regulations that apply for the area that you intend to fish including the restricted access changes to the Eucumbene River around the Denison camping area.
A further reminder that the annual fishing closure to protect Australian bass and estuary perch began back on May 1 and is in effect until August 31.
This four-month closure protects these popular native sport fish during their spawning period, which takes place at this time. Anglers are best not to target them at all, as there is some research that suggests catch and release still unnecessarily affects their breeding.
Warilla Hotel FC comp was held last weekend with senior BRE biggest fish and fish of the month going to John Phelps with a rock blackfish weighing 1.55 kilos. The biggest bag went to Danny Colville with a 9.2 kilo mix. Senior deep sea biggest fish was a nice 4.05 kg snapper for Terry Royan and Joe Da Silva took out largest bag weight with his mix of 8.8 kilos.
Junior deep sea saw young Mach Elliott take home the section with an 800 gram tailor and the mystery fish, bream, went to Joe Sciberras.
Fish of the month for May is snapper and members are advised that membership renewal fees are now due.
