UOW academic, author and passionate historian, Rowan Cahill, will be part of a talking heads program to run over three weekends.

The Kings Bloody Cross series of conversation events will see notables discuss various aspects of Kings Cross from drag queens, to beggars, its diversity, its soul and its radicalism.

“I’ll be talking about the history of Sydney’s radicalism … and is Sydney still radical,” Cahill said.

“Radicalism is around all the time, it’s just that the stories aren’t promoted in the same way that conservative stories are.”

Cahill will join Will Tregoning, Sydney councillor Jess Miller, director of the Sydney Fringe Festival Kerri Glasscock, director of Unharm Will Tregoning and host James Valentine on June 11 at The World Bar.

Topics for discussion for this particular event range from anti-conscription protests during the Vietnam War, anarchists in Glebe, Gay Rights activism on Oxford Street and Black Power in Redfern.
