Jayden Proud abused the woman and called her a “junkie slut” during the November 2016 ordeal, which was sparked over barking dogs.
Police documents tendered to Wollongong Local Court reveal the victim was on the phone to her mother in the backyard of her home one morning when she overheard Proud and his girlfriend fighting, before seeing the girlfriend leave the premises.
The woman said she heard shouting and banging coming from Proud’s home, which caused her dogs to begin barking.
Proud yelled at her to “shut the dogs up”. The victim said she took the animals into her home and tried to calm them however said Proud continued to yell, causing the dogs to keep barking.
Proud then came out of his house carrying a machete in a black sheath. He stood on a chair on the verandah and pointed the machete at the victim over the fence while abusing her.
“The victim was standing at her lounge room window at the time and was intimidated by the actions of the defendant,” police wrote in the court documents.
Proud went back inside the house and came out again a short time later armed with an axe handle. He walked to the front of the woman’s house and waved the handle in the air while abusing her.
She phoned police, who arrived a short time later and arrested Proud.
Officers found the axe handle, machete and an air pistol inside Proud’s house during a search.
During an interview with police Proud admitted he wielded the knife and the axe handle intending to scare the woman.
He was charged with intimidation, being armed with intent and possessing an unauthorised pistol.
He pleaded guilty to the charges in court recently.
Proud’s lawyer sought to have a sentencing options report prepared ahead of his sentencing hearing in July.
He remains on bail.
