LOCAL charities have been given their wings thanks to a donation from the Bright family and the Rotary clubs of the Illawarra.

Event organisers Mark and Kerry Bright, who run the Wings Over the Illawarra event at the Albion Park airport, made a donation of $10,000 to five Rotary clubs from the region on Monday.
In a special function at the HARS Museum, the money was then handed out to six local charities to assist in their community programs. The Bright family has made the $10,000 to Rotary each year as a result of the Wings event, bringing the overall tally donated to $40,000.
The Rotary Club of Wollongong donated $1000 each to the St Mark’s Anglican Church feeding the needy in Wollongong and $1000 to the Dapto Anglican Church’s Streetcrew project supporting the youth of Dapto.
The Rotary Club of Illawarra Sunrise’s nominated charity was in support of the Supported Accommodation and Homelessness Services Shoalhaven Illawarra.
The Rotary Club of Corrimal supported local children’s literacy project, the Imagination Library.
The Sky’s the Limit Mini Olympics, which sees 300 people take part annually in an inclusive Olympic event for all, was the benefactor of the donation from the Rotary Club of West Wollongong.
The Rotary Club of Fairy Meadow presented its donation to the Wollongong Emergency Family Housing in Kenny St.
