Luke from Leisure Coast Tackle at Corrimal said much-awaited reports were rife earlier this week about some good sized southern bluefin tuna taken down off Bermagui.

A good contingent of local trailer boats headed down to have a shot at these awesome hard-fighting tuna and reports indicated that there were around eight to 10 fish caught last Monday with the biggest going around the 80-kilogram mark.
There were also a couple of late marlin caught in the same area as well.
Off Sydney there were a couple of daytime broadbill swordfish caught also.
Phil Webster, fishing on board the famous Sydney game boat Little Audrey, got one around the 80 kilogram mark and Chris (the Fish Whisperer) Cleaver put his mate Ryan Camlin onto his first broadbill of about 60 kilograms from the home port.
Deep dropping has still been pulling in some solid gemfish, gurnard and blue eye trevalla as well.
Closer to home, the snapper bite is heating up with some solid fish coming in from the shallow reefs, especially last Sunday afternoon.
An old rule of thumb observed by a lot of local snapper fishos, the second week in June is snapper time and usually heralds the run of the bigger reds in close.
Fingers crossed the bump a few days ago will heat things up for this long weekend.
Initial reports were not looking good for the weekend but they are getting better by the day so fingers crossed we will be in for a cracking fishy three-day break.
Flathead drifts have been producing some great fish at present and the beaches continued to fish well for salmon and tailor as well as some big blue nosed bream and big winter whiting.
The tailor have been of impressive size of late with a couple of models up around the 2.5kg mark.
They liked both chromed metal slugs and the ever reliable ganged pillies.
Few reports of any mulloway this past week, maybe the cold has kept a few off the sand.
But again once the current bump settles, some new gutters should be formed and you won’t catch them sitting at home.
