Surely his performance against the Tigers on Saturday puts the argument over his best position at the Dragons to bed.
It was a low game that could’ve gone either way and, despite Gareth Widdop’s classy return, Dugan was the difference maker.
Backing up from Origin he ran for 170 metres and saved four tries, including an excellent cover tackle on a flying James Tedesco.
Dugan is a polarising figure but he’s nothing if not forthright.
He spoke in NSW camp of feeling disrespected by the Dragons attempt to low-ball him by pigeon-holing him as a centre.
He’s always had the backing of coach Paul McGregor as the club’s No.1. It wasn’t hard to see why on Saturday.
The club, and recruitment chief Ian Millward, have got a lot right when it comes to recruitment this season, but they might just do things differently on Dugan if they had their time again.
