A 1917-themed picnic will highlight the school’s Centenary Celebration Fete on June 17.
The event also features rides, disco, talent show, food, art gallery, plant and book stalls. There will also be a Historical Society display and centenary photos and merchandise.
School principal Melanie Paterson said the fete was organised by the school’s ‘’very active’’ P&C and supported by families through donations and volunteered time.
P&C president Kylie Park will also give an oral history of the school during the event which runs 10am to 3pm.
Miss Paterson said the school’s centenary celebrations officially kicked off with an open day on April 28.
The day featured presentations by past and present students and teachers and performances by the school choir and band.
‘’A mural representing the staff and students in 2017 was also unveiled on the day,’’ Miss Paterson said.
‘’In 1917, Stanwell Park Public School had 59 enrolled students. Today the school has 155 students.’’
Celebrations will conclude on October 20 with a centenary dinner at Panorama House with past and present community members in attendance.
