Cedars Christian College's huge medal haul at CSSA Nationals

A host of talented Cedars Christian College students from several sports combined to win 10 medals including seven gold at the the  Christian Schools Sports Association Nationals in Sydney.

The students took part in soccer, basketball, and tennis and took home seven gold, two silver and three bronze.

Kya Stewart, Kevin Bukasa and Abi Jordan won gold in soccer and Angelina Graovac won a tennis gold in singles and doubles.

Nic Armand claimed a silver in singles in tennis, while in basketball Jordan Humphreys picked up a silver, Darcy Bartlett a bronze medal and Jordan Humphreys’s sister Jessica’s team finished fourth.

Cedars coaches also won gold with Leah Price successful for her NSW Open Netball and Ken Jordan’s team winning the NSW Open Boys Soccer.

“We are very proud of each of our students who put in an amazing effort during the games and excited to announce these amazing wins. We’re also proud of our gold winning coaches,” said Cedars Principal Steve Walton.

Teenager Abi Jordan plays first grade for the Illawarra Stingrays women’s soccer team and the South Coast Taipans rep Futsal side.

In 2017 Abi was named NSW CSSA Nationals Football MVP and FFA Futsal National Champion Award and was selected in the CIS team to compete at the NSW All Schools Tournament.

Kya Stewart is an outstanding soccer player who in 2017 was co-captain of the Under 17’s Metro Thunder FFA Futsal National Champions. A top goalkeeper for Illawarra Stingrays in the Womens NSW Premier League 1, Kya was selected for CIS in the NSW All School Girls tournament/trials and won the Australian Futsal Tournament playing for NSW.

Kevin Bukasa, 14,  plays soccer for the U16 Football South Coast team and has been passionately playing soccer for the past four years.

Top tennis prospect Nic Armand has twice represented at the CSSA Nationals Games winning gold and silver and has played at Platinum tournament level.

Angelina Graovac is top 10 for her age in NSW, and has made singles finals and won the doubles at the Cairns Gold Australian Money Tournament and Yarra Valley Melbourne Australian Money Tournament, plus in the CSSA Open Girls event won the singles was part of the winning Girls Open team.

In basketball, Jordan Humphreys has played Men’s Championship plus Southern Junior League U18s in 2015, while sister Jessica has played rep basketball since 2011 and  represented CSSA at the CIS Gala Day in 2017.

Darcy Bartlett was part of the winning Illawarra U16s SJL team in 2016 and won the Illawarra U16 Boys Championship League in 2017 and 2014 U14 Boys Championship League.
