Dozens of young skateboarders took advantage of the half pipe and ramp course set up outside Wollongong Youth Centre on Burelli Street on Saturday.
The purpose was to mark Internationa Go Skateboarding Day on June 21.
Wollongong City Council organised the event with Sydney-based company Skateology, along with DJ and food as a way to celebrate the youth of the city.
“Wollongong City Council has thrown its support behind this event that focuses on the positive influence skateboarding can have on a young person’s life,” Acting Wollongong Lord Mayor John Dorahy said.
“Council has a number of skateparks across our local government area and we know they’re well used by young people of all ages.
“This event provides an opportunity for young people to test their skills in a new and different environment and on different equipment.’’
