Early tries to young guns Matt Dufty and Reuben Garrick gave the hosts a handy buffer midway through the first half before a second-half onslaught from the Roos saw them run out handy winners.
Dufty opened the scoring after just seven minutes and the hosts led by two converted tries when Garrick crossed nine minutes later.
After a slow start, the competition leaders made quick work of the deficit with tries to Matthew Ikuvalu and Josh Mantellato in the space of eight minutes.
It saw the scores locked up at 12 apiece at halftime but the Roos quickly took the lead four minutes after the resumption through Chris Smith.
Garrick’s second four-pointer cut the deficit back to two at 18-16 but it was as close as the Steelers got with Justin Toomey-White crossing 10 minutes later before Luke Sharpe’s 79th minute try sealed the result.
