Warrigal’s Warilla Op Shop reopened for trading on Monday after renovations. Originally based at the Commonwealth Bank the Op Shop re-located to its present location in 1983, after collaboration between Rotary and Warrigal Ladies Auxiliary. A fire caused major damage the early 1990’s but generous community support helped keep it up and running. Now Warrigal has upgraded it further to provide a more comfortable and contemporary shopping experience.

Warrigal chief executive Mark Sewell said people have traveled far and wide to visit the Op Shop over the decades. All funds raised from the Op Shop go back into purchasing much needed items and equipment for Warrigal’s Residential Care Homes.
Warrigal is also doing significant refurbishments to the Warilla Residential Care Home including upgraded medication and treatment areas, accessible bathrooms, additional lounge and dining areas, provision for a café and hairdresser as well as commencing a sustainability project involving the installation of solar panels throughout the site.
