Luke from Leisure Coast Tackle at Corrimal reported plenty of boats have been taking the opportunity to head out very wide to deep drop while the currents have slowed right down and there have been some great eating table fish taken over the last week including blue eye, hapuku and gemfish.

There have been a few reports of some yellowfin and southern blue fin tuna busting the surface down off Jervis Bay and further south but nothing confirmed as of Wednesday just gone.
There was a nice 60kg yellowfin caught last week out from Jervis Bay so hopefully this is the start of our east coast tuna run.
There have also been some big mako sharks around and the crew on ‘Reel Screamer’ fished wide of Jervis Bay to weigh in a stonker 288 kilogram beast taken on just 15 kilo tackle.
Closer to shore the reds are starting to school up in the shallow water awaiting the spawn of the cuttlefish with loads of shop customers getting stuck into some decent fish in less than 10 metres of water.
Tim Tuta gained bragging rights in the shop’s board competition weighing his personal best red of the season at a very nice 5.2 kilos.
It was taken in around 10 metres of water on a gulp squid vicious in new penny colour.
Those who chose to fish wider still found fish but it was tough going getting through the toads and the barracouta.
However there have also been plenty of trevally, pigfish and some big blue mowies in the same areas.
Despite the cold, beaches have again continued to fish well for bream and whiting with lack of numbers being made up for by the size of the fish.
Last Friday, Mick Felgate was in Luke’s shop and eventually selected a couple of hard body lures that looked the goods for a mulloway and headed off in search of a mulloway from an undisclosed spot.
Twenty minutes later, Mick rang the shop to thank Luke for his help as on his very first cast with one of his new lures, he nailed a very nice jew that later weighed at 9.9 kilograms.
