Out wide the current has slowed right down, so now is the time to break out the deck winches or for you technically savvy anglers the electric reels and head out for a deep drop.
Some excellent fish await including gemfish, bar cod and, if you know the spot, blue eye trevalla where local deep drop specialist Ivor Wright, landed a 17.5kg blue eye, off his favourite Kiama mark.
Tuna are starting to show again further south. Hopefully they’ll move up the coast shortly so the few anglers stricken with blue fin fever don’t have to camp out down at Eden in swags freezing.

If weed is not available, live nippers will get you hooked up with the added advantage of also being able to catch bream and bigger winter whiting.
A quick suss along the bowling club wall this week revealed one of the locals had a nice catch of bream he got early morning while the float flickers were hooking into a few luderick on the start of the runout.
