Dylan Dahl, 24, of Barrack Heights stands accused of dangerous driving and negligent driving occasioning the death of 18-year-old Jayke Robinson.
Dahl was excused from Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, where the magistrate heard he would face a third charge of driving with an illicit drug – MDMA – in his system.
Police are expected to source material including expert statements on Dahl’s likely level of intoxication, as the court case progresses.
Dahl was seriously injured when his car slammed into a tree on the side of Cleveland Road about 2.10am on December 2. A resident pulled him from the wreckage before the car was engulfed by fire with Mr Robinson still in the passenger seat.
The matter returns to court July 26.
