Luke from Leisure Coast Tackle at Corrimal said that last week/weekend saw a mixed bag of conditions with a bit of swell and wind but thankfully it abated early on Saturday to make way for a good weekend’s fishing.

Not too many reports from out wide last week with only rumours of the odd yellow fin tuna from out off Jervis Bay that were about 20kg.
However, there were some good fish for those deep dropping with a mix of bass grouper, blue eye and some solid gemfish.
Snapper were playing hard to get for most with only a few solid fish in the mix with the bigger guys coming off the northern deeper reefs at Bandit and the humps, but the bite didn’t last long.
The shallower spots that had started to fire up early last week, went quiet with only a couple of fish pulled off the tide change before the bite shut down and the dreaded barracouta and big slimies moved in.
The flathead drifts were still holding some good fish although size again is on the smaller end to what we having been seeing over past few months.
Beaches continue to fish well for bream and whiting on fresh beach worms.
But in saying that, good luck if you can find the worms as they have been very patchy owing to the big seas and cooler temperatures.
There have been plenty of big tailor patrolling the gutters of late with some solid fish to the 3kg mark coming in.
There have also been salmon as well as the odd big flathead about off the beach.
The excellent run of jewfish seems to have to come to a grinding halt last week.
Many have been trying with no luck and only one or two soapies have been reported from sessions earlier this week.
The rocks seems to be where it’s at with some excellent drummer and bream and blackfish coming from the washes.
Drummer are widespread off most points and rocky headlands and a bag of royal reds with a steady bread burley should see you knock together a good feed in no time.
