Mott, who made it to the main draw at the Australian Open in January and fought gamely against experienced Frenchman Richard Gasquet, was beaten 7-5, 6-4 by Bublik.
Mott attacked the net regularly, particularly in the first set, but converted just one of four break points and succumbed to Bublik’s big serve.
Bublik finished with 11 aces to one.
In the second set, Mott’s first serve percentage lifted to 79, but Bublik took the break point opportunity on offer to finish the match.
Bublik is ranked 134 in the world, 90 places above Mott, who has competed on the Challenger and Futures tour events before breaking through to the Australian Open main draw, where he was beaten 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 by Gasquet.
The loss to Bublik came after Mott won his first round qualifying match 6-4, 6-4 against Germany’s Jeremy Jahn.
