The young performers will tour their And Imagine show to Melbourne, for a one-off performance on July 8 at the ‘’magnificent’’ Burrinja Theatre, in the Dandenong Ranges.
CMYP director Jane Davis said the opportunity to tour a show to Melbourne, to perform in a fully equipped, professional theatre like Burrinja was a wonderful opportunity for the young performers.
‘’Then we’ll return to Wollongong, with the Ruccis performers, ready to perform in front of our home audiences. The excitement during rehearsals is definitely building,’’ Davis said.
Young performer Asha Colless said she has loved working on the show.
‘’And Imagine is a magical show. I can’t wait to share it with others,’’ she said.
Davis said And Imagine was two shows in one, with CMYP to present Night; an exploration of the thoughts, feelings and imaginings that come out to play after a child goes to bed for the night.
Circus Ruccis, in their first time performing in Wollongong, will present Day, in which the mind wanders through a landscape of daydreams.
Sophia Belgrove, one of the more experienced CMYP members said the show was “filled with gut-wrenching beauty, joyful humour, flips, tricks and everything in between’’.
‘’And, it’s put on by a cast as close to family as you can get. Together we have created something marvelous,’’ she said.
First time troupe performer Ella Wadley, 12 was also looking forward to the experience.
‘’I’m very excited to work with Ruccis, another circus company, and to perform in front of both Melbourne and Wollongong crowds,’’ she said.
And Imagine plays at Circus Monoxide’s premises in Jardine Street, Fairy Meadow on July 14-15.
