Illawarra Hawks will want to be strong on the road after being handed a a tough early schedule to the new 2017-18 season with nine of their first 12 games away from Wollongong.

The Hawks have just three home games - against Brisbane in round three, Sydney (round 4) and Sydney again in round seven - in the first two months of the season.
Illawarra have three homes games in a week over the Christmas period, with games against Perth (Dec 23), Cairns ((Dec 28) and a bumper New Year's Eve clash against Brisbane.
After a tough early schedule the Hawks have seven straight home games between round 9 against Adelaide on December 10 and New Zealand in round 14 on January 13 giving fans plenty of opportunity to see them during the traditional holiday period.
The Hawks begin the new season away to Cairns on Friday October 6, before a road double against Perth on October 13 and October.
Illawarra host Brisbane on Sunday October 22 in their first home game
