Destination NSW chose the four best photos and four best videos after entrants were invited to snap, film and share their work on social media, using hashtag #ILoveNSW, to show what they love most about the state.
Dale Ketteringham was chosen as one of the eight major winners from 16,630 photographs and videos submitted. Mr Ketteringham is a registered nurse who recently started his own Instagram page called Earthscapeimages and a Facebook page under the same name.
Some of his photos have recently appeared in recent articles published in a Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures print magazine and an online issue of RV Daily.
Mr Ketteringham said his winning photo of The Living Desert Sculpture near Broken Hill was taken while heading back from a holiday to Western Australia in January.
“We had been to the sculptures out there before on a previous holiday and wanted to go back there at sunset. I’ve been doing this kind of photography for 10 to 15 years as a hobby. It has turned into a passion now. I was certainly very happy to hear I had won. I didn’t realise there was so many entries. It has inspired me to get back out there and take more photos and enter more competitions.”
Mr Ketteringham said whenever he gets the chance he goes out with his camera to Helensburgh, Macquarie Pass and along the South Coast. “My family and I do a lot of travelling around the outback. We enjoy getting out there in nature taking photos”.
