An improved second half performance from the Albion Park-Oak Flats Eagles provided the perfect platform to clinch their third victory of the season, as they outmuscled a highly competitive Stingrays of Shellharbour side by 20-16 at Flinders Field on Sunday.

Eagles centre Blake Jones was sin binned for punching in the opening stages of the game by referee Jordan Mitchell, but the Stingrays couldn’t make the most of a 12-man Albion Park side that were certainly up for the task in defence.
After 30 minutes the deadlock was finally broken with Albion Park five eighth Scott Morgan and winger Kyle Zimmerman who both crossed the white chalk from close proximity. Aaron Merrick added the extra two points and at the break the Eagles led by 10-nil.
The match certainly came to life in the second half with both teams showing promising signs of improvement in attack.
The Eagles notched it up attack as Jack Scurr and Blake Jones scored the second half tries for the Eagles while Brandon Anderson produced a terrific second half double and interchange forward Akulia Saukuru scored from close range for the Stingrays.
The Eagles prevented a possible come from behind Stingrays victory as they ran out winners by 20-16.
In other matches Kiama got back into the winners circle with a 28-16 victory over the Port Kembla, Warilla defeated Berry-Shoalhaven Heads 28-26, Nowra-Bomaderry upset Gerringong Lions by 36-24 and Shellharbour City Sharks defeated Milton-Ulladulla 38-14.
