But it was only after Elsa made an appearance that the real fun started.
Small and big kids shrieked with excitement when the popular character from Frozen dropped by to mingle with the 100 plus children on hand.
Lauren Cooper from Kiama enjoyed the fun with her six-year-old daughter Sierra.
‘’I’ve been to a few high-tea events here in the past but this is something different all-together,’’ she said.
‘’Sierra loves Frozen and is a big fan of Elsa.’’
Shellharbour mum Kate Kerr and her kids Ginger, 4 and Miki, 6 also loved ice-skating on top of the Novotel Northbeach rooftop.
The synthetic ice rink was particularly popular with novice skaters, who used penguins to minimise falling over. While there is no actual ice, identical skates are used to glide over the treated surface just like you would over a frozen ice-rink.
