The Illawarra Mercury’s new sales manager Steve Sutton feels right at home.

Mr Sutton returned to the Illawarra after travelling and working internationally, taking on a role within circulation for Fairfax Media before recently being appointed to lead the Mercury’s advertising team.

“I was born in  and spent next 17 years of my life in Bulli where I learned the value of a strong family, good friends, and a supportive community,” Mr Sutton said.

“Some of my earliest memories were dad coming home after a hard day’s work at the steelworks with the Illawarra Mercury under his arm and sitting and reading it with him while he had his cup of tea and a biscuit.’’

Mr Sutton left the Illawarra in 1988 to study business then  "see the world", but is excited to be back working as part of this community and helping local businesses achieve their goals.

“Now 20 years later I returned to Bulli where I get to enjoy that same bike ride to Wollongong with our daughter as I did when I was a kid growing up in beautiful Bulli,” Mr Sutton said.
