The Wesley Community Centre, Wollongong feeds 80 to 100 people a day, Monday to Friday, with food parcels also available.
Centre co-ordinator Karen Zaini said they worked with those experiencing drug and alcohol addiction, as well as homelessness.
Paying it Forward this week donated the items to Wesley Community Centre to assist the homeless during the colder months.
Donations included 20 tents and 20 sleeping bags.
Mrs Zaini thanked the group for their efforts.
“We’re frontline giving out to the homeless, so this helps a lot,” she said.
Those wishing to donate items can visit the centre, located at Church on the Mall on Crown Street.
Lake Heights resident Karyn Lewis created the not-for-profit ‘Paying It Forward Wollongong’ Facebook group.
She said the “whole group pitched in and helped” to collect the items.
“We actually help both Wesley and Darcy House at Port Kembla,” she said.
“We help both of them because they don’t get the funding. They are so under-funded, but they do so much work with the homeless in our area.”
