Two of three southbound lanes on the Princes Highway, just past Tongarra Road, are closed.
Motorists can use the Illawarra Highway, Terry Street and Croome Road to return to the Princes Highway as an alternative route.
Traffic is heavy and the Transport Management Centre advises motorists to avoid the area.
