In addition to a new store at Bellambi/Russell Vale, Bunnings Shellharbour is set to move into the former Masters Albion Park site.
The other store will be at 9 Watts Lane, Russell Vale.
Andrew Marks, general manager property at Bunnings confirmed they had received development approval to make the necessary conversions of the former Masters site.
“Following the reformatting works, our intention is to relocate our existing Shellharbour warehouse including all current team members,” he said.
“The conversion of the site is pending the Home Consortium agreement with Woolworths Limited which is subject to the consent of Lowe’s Companies, Inc.”
Meanwhile, Mr Marks said construction works are currently under way and progressing as planned at the new Bunnings Warehouse Bellambi site.
“The new Bunnings Warehouse Bellambi is expected to create over 150 new jobs once open,” he said.
“The new store is expected to open late 2017. We are looking forward to providing the local community with the latest home improvement and outdoor living products backed by the best service.”
The 13,000-square metre Albion Park Masters closed its doors last December.
The “big box” store had only opened its doors a little over a year prior to last August’s announcement.
Wesfarmers-owned franchise Bunnings last November lodged a development application with Shellharbour City Council, seeking to modify the Masters consent.
Instead of being a classed as a “home improvement centre”, Bunnings sought to create a “hardware and buildings supplies” store.
