The powerhouse stable shared success across the state on Saturday, with Assimilate winning the opening race in Sydney before Severance matched his stablemate’s efforts at Kembla Grange.
Both juveniles came through an impressive two-year-old maiden at the Illawarra Turf Club a fortnight ago and franked their form from the race with impressive wins. Jockey Adrian Layt produced a patient ride on Severance ($1.50) to win the AS White Global Maiden Handicap (1400m) by a neck over Robert and Luke Price trained Robbery ($34), with Crimson Sun ($5) in third.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden felt the colt by Redoute’s Choice would be even better as a three-year-old.
“He will improve a lot of that run,” he said.
“He is a horse that is going to get over a bit of distance, probably even 2000m.
“He has no gate speed at all and just keeps wanting to wind up.
“He is hitting the line well and that’s important for me because he was quite good today.”
Layt and the Snowdens combined for success again in the final event when More Moet won comfortably over 2000m.
