The Fraternity Cup champions came from a goal down at half time to snatch three important points at Macedonia Park. It provides Jovanovski’s men with a huge boost in their bid to make the top five as they drew level on points with fifth-placed Port Kembla, who drew 1-1 with Woonona.
“We talked about how important every game was from here on out so it was crucial to get that win,” Jovanovski said.
“It is going to be tight for those fourth and fifth spots, with the four teams fighting it out, and I reckon by the end of the season their will only be a couple of points separating us.
“We were up for it on the weekend and need to keep up that up until the end of the season now.”
Dom Magill put Corrimal in the lead midway through the first half from the penalty spot.
They carried the 1-0 advantage until half time before Ricky Zucco inspired a second half resurgence from the hosts. The former Wolves striker levelled the score with a quality free kick before scoring a stunning bicycle to seal the win.
“The boys realised the season was in the balance and we created a lot more in the second half,” Jovanovski said.
“We probably deserved the win in the end.”
The match was marred by a head injury to Corrimal’s player-coach Gavin O’Brien, who suffered a concussion.
