THEY’VE firmly wrested interstate dominance away from Queensland and the current crop of Blues have the potential to maintain it for an extended stretch according to NSW star Sammy Bremner.

Having broken a 17-year run of unchecked Queensland dominance last season, the Blues proved it was no one-off with a convincing 22-6 win over the Maroons at WIN Stadium on Sunday.
“It was a bit of a different win for us,” Bremner said post-match.
“Two years ago we drew, last year we just won so to be up by that much with 20 minutes to go was a bit of a surreal feeling.
“It’s just a real testament to how hard we’ve worked. It was a really hard game, Origin is the hardest game you can play, but I think we took a lot of pressure off ourselves because everyone just did their job and we played the best footy we could.”
It came on the back of new initiatives from the NSW Rugby League including a pathways program that saw a squad of 30 go into camp in Wollongong a fortnight before the annual fixture.
It ensures the Blues have unprecedented depth in their ranks, something Bremner believes will put NSW in good stead in the coming years.
“I think that’s the most exciting thing about our team, we have so far to go,” Bremner said.
“We’re a young team, we’ve got so much more skill development to go and we want to learn more. No one’s really near the end of their career and we’ve got such tight mateship off the field that’s been created by our coaching staff. In the future it’s going to be very exciting.”
