The well travelled hoop has hardly put a foot wrong all season and will deservedly round out an extremely successful campaign next week with several premierships in his name.
One of those titles will be the Kembla jockeys crown after Penza wrapped up the premiership with another winning performance last Saturday.
Penza went into the final day with a substantial lead in the title race and sealed his spot at the top of the pile with a victory on Godolphin’s promising two-year-old Kennedy.
It helped bring his season tally to a mammoth 141 points, with Chad Lever (116) and Mitchell Bell (91) leading the chasing pack.
“It is really pleasing,” Penza said. “I think I missed out last year by just a few points but this year I made a good thing of it.
“I have had a lot of support from stables like Godolphin, not only at Kembla Grange but up at Newcastle as well.
“It has put me way out in front in the provincial premiership as well.
“I am very lucky to have that sort of support behind me.”
Penza will also win the Newcastle jockeys premiership and has had more winners than any other jockey in the state this season.
Only an outstanding final week in the saddle from Brenton Avdulla or Greg Ryan would stop Penza from claiming the statewide premiership.
