And on Tuesday the school’s principal Tony Hicks was quick to thank the folks at CityServe Shellharbour for their efforts in revitalising an area that was ‘’dormant and wasted for 10 or so years’’.
‘’This area was just a junk heap really but now it is a very usable space that will be used by the whole student body,’’ Mr Hicks said.
‘’The area really has opened up plenty of opportunities for open air learning.
‘’The local Year 6 primary school kids have used the area for early orientation to our school. The local preschool has also used the area in assisting our students in their childcare studies.
‘’The impact has been great thanks to CityServe.’’
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba also praised CityServe volunteers for their work on this project and the many others they’ve completed around the city over the years.
‘’CityServe and Shellharbour Council working together to create great outcomes for our community is a fantastic result,’’ Cr Saliba said.
‘’This just goes to show clearly what we can achieve as a community when everyone comes together to make a real difference.’’
Shellharbour MP Anna Watson said CityServe had done a fantastic job.
