Presented by Shellharbour’s Roo Theatre Company, follow the adventures of the Potts family and their flying, floating, “fantasmagorical" machine, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts sets to restore an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima.
They discover the car has magical powers including the ability to float and take flight. However, trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself.
Running from July 28 to August 10 at the Roo Theatre, the corner of Addison and Wentworth Streets in Shellharbour Village.
Street Art Exhibition – including Banksy
The big drawcard for Wollongong Art Gallery’s latest exhibition, Heuristic, is Banky’s famous Girl With The Red Balloon.
A first edition worth about $70,000, the Banksy and some of the other impressive works in the show are being borrowed from the private collection of a man who won’t be identified, but was part of the London street art scene in the early 2000s.
It runs at the gallery until October 8 – corner of Kembla and Burelli Street in Wollongong.

Women in Blues Showcase
Founding member of Supporting Women in Blues Di Forster noticed female blues artists were not getting enough support from the industry so created the organisation with Kerrie Sweeney.
The aim is to support female musicians achieve their goals by supporting them in performance, publicity and mentoring – while also raising money to help domestic violence victims.
The Saturday catch the Women of Blues and Soul Showcase, fundraising for the Luke Batty Foundation, at Corrimal RSL from 7:30pm.
Ms Fran 'Big Mama' Liddle is the driving force behind Big Mama and The Hanged Men while Big Mama's House is joined by the “Whiskey Empire” duo Shannon Caswell and Leslea Celements.
Affordable Art & Artisans Market
Wollongong Art Gallery will host an art and artisans market this weekend, running from 10am to 3:30pm at the gallery – corner of Kembla and Burelli Street in Wollongong.
Expect to find an array of treasures like prints, paintings, sculptures, locally handcrafted goods.
Plus chill out to live music and a pop up cafe.
Prisoner History Exhibition
From jail fever to HIV/AIDS and more recently hepatitis, infectious diseases have been rife in NSW prisons over the last 200 years.
The Caring for the Incarcerated exhibition at the University of Wollongong examines key moments from the last 200 years of NSW prison medical service.
Associate Professor Louella McCarthy from UOW’s Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health (SMAH) says the research behind the exhibition aims to unveil how historical forces come into play in today’s delivery of health care within the prison system.
Caring for the Incarcerated is open to the public at the Panizzi Room inside UOW Library, and runs until September 10.

Mount Kembla Heritage Festival
Family day out at Mt Kembla Public School, ‘A Day on the Lawn’ from 10am to 3pm.
Stalls, food, live entertainment plus heritage displays on the mine disaster, Pit Pones, Rees Orchard and Tunnels to Trenches. Dress up in heritage clothes and get a pic inside the heritage photo booth.
A WWI memorial tree planting will get underway at 10am by members of the Wollongong RSL Sub Branch at the mt kembla Memorial Pathway on Stones Road.
A mine disaster memorial church service will be held at 2pm at the Mt Kembla Soldiers’ and Miners’ Memorial Church.

Mountain to Mountain Challenge
From experienced athletes to weekend walkers, everyone who takes on the Greenacres Disability Services Mountain to Mountain Challenge will feel like a champion after competing this gruelling course.
Starting at the base of Mount Keira and finishing at the heights of Mount Kembla, the challenge is a 13.6 kilometre run or walk.
Participants will tackle a series of steep ascents and dips finishing at Mount Kembla with all the food and fun of the Mount Kembla Mining Heritage Festival.
A free shuttle bus will take people back to Mount Keira.
Money raised will go to Greenacres Disability Services to support nearly 1,000 people with a disability living in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.
