But for mother of twins Melissa Gorgievski what her children Charli (Charlotte) and Kate have inspired her to do is start a new business and name it after them.
Its my business and my dad is going to mentor me through it.
- Melissa Gorgievski
Charli & Kate will open alongside a new-look David Jones when it opens its doors this Spring.
Mrs Gorgievski said she was really excited about the new concept and bringing it to life in early October as the owner/manager.
She said Charli & Kate was presently employing staff and she is inviting hair stylists interested in joining the new salon to contact her at info@charliandkate.com.au.
Mrs Gorgievski’s father Lube Markovski is her mentor and together they saw what they feel is a gap in the market.
She was area manager for three other salons run by her father before he sold them to focus on his new Grill’d Restaurants in Wollongong and Shellharbour.
Her husband Robert Gorgievski is the manager at Grill’d Shellharbour and her brother Allen Markovski is manager of Grill’d Wollongong.
After having three children Mrs Gorgievski decided she wanted to do something herself in business again.
“Around two years ago we randomly found out we were expecting twins. It has been a pretty interesting ride. We had them at almost 38 weeks and we didn’t know the gender. It turned out to be two girls and we felt blessed to have twins. I did not think that would ever happen to me,” she said.
Mrs Gorgievski has and older son Samuel and now feels her three children have reached an age where she can run a business again.
“I have always worked in retail. It has always been a passion of mine and something I wanted to get back into. Everything just felt right and those two (Charli & Kate) are very inspirational and are likely to make regular appearances at the salon named after them.”
Mrs Gorgievski was speaking to her father about opportunities when GPT approached him about whether he was interested in retail again. His daughter wanted to open a salon with a difference. Rather than stocking a few leading brands it will stock many premium brands in an open space.
“It is a really strong salon focus as well and we have access to some of the best trainers in Australia and opportunities with some of the best internationally as well who are going to come down and train our team. We are looking for stylists who want to go to the next level. We want to be the best of the best. This salon is going to be all about the quality and the experience the customers are going to get.”
Mrs Gorgievski said Samuel turns 4 in October and if Charli & Kate goes well that may well lead to them opening another business under his name.
“Its my business and my dad is going to mentor me through it,” she said.
