Hollywood has the Oscars and the music industry has the Grammys – but for Illawarra and South Coast businesses, the annual night of nights is Wednesday August 9.
Finalists for the 2017 Illawarra and South Coast Local Business Awards are anticipating their night in the limelight.
It is also a chance for customers and clients to see if the businesses they nominated have become finalists.
The Illawarra and South Coast Local Business Awards are only possible with the support of major sponsors Dapto Leagues Club and support sponsors Warilla Grove Shopping Centre.
Precedent Productions managing director and Awards founder Steve Loe said tickets for the awards presentation evening to be held at Dapto Leagues Club on Wednesday August 9 had been selling rapidly.
“The awards evening is always a glittering event, where our finalists dress up and let their hair down for an evening of entertainment, good food, relaxed chat – and, of course, celebration,” he said.
“Just being there as a finalist is a huge achievement, and it is a great opportunity for business people and their teams to reflect on their successes with a fun night out.”
Mr Loe said the high quality of all nominees had made the job of judging a great pleasure but also immensely difficult.

“To be a finalist at the presentation evening is a huge achievement and everyone is always extremely proud to be there,” he said.
“All finalists in each category are announced, with their picture shown on the big screen.
“The cheers from the entire crowd are deafening, as everyone celebrates the achievement of all the businesses in the room.”
“I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Illawarra and South Coast Local Business Awards to congratulate all the finalists on their achievements.
“I would also like to thank the Illawarra and South Coast community for the enormous support they show for their local businesses through the Awards every year.
“Without them, these outstanding businesses would not receive the recognition which they deserve.”

A keen contest
While to be a nominee at the Local Business Awards is an honour and a finalist an even greater privilege, it is the main categories that are most keenly anticipated on the night.
With the focus on doing business well, the Business of the Year award is a great achievement because it means that they are doing most things right.
To be awarded business Person of the Year is a wonderful success because it not only takes a strong and capable leader to ensure a business’s success but also someone who the community feels is a shining example.
There is also the Youth Award for up and coming young entrepreneurs so this is showcasing the talent of the near future.
To be a finalist in the New Business category is a milestone because the first year in business can be tough.
Good luck to all the finalists – you are all ‘winners’!
