The hosts’ goals were scored by Christian Halyard, Tom Miotto and Connor Tuddenham.
The two teams will play again on Thursday, August 10, starting at 6.30pm at the same venue.
Illawarra-South Coast squad includes Alex Mackay, Christian Halyard, Heath Ogilvie, Jack Hayes, Kieran Richards, Max Hughes, Jack Donovan, Will Orth, Brady Anderson, Thomas Miotto, Scott Govers and Connor Tuddenham.
Meanwhile, Wests have the opportunity to gain valuable ground on competition leaders Albion Park in the Illawarra-South Coast women’s round this weekend.
With just four rounds until the finals, Wests meet Jamberoo on Friday night, while Park have the bye.
Wests are eight points behind Albion Park on the ladder but can keep the pressure on in the race for the minor premiership. Albion Park meet Wests in the men’s competition on Sunday, looking to secure first place, while University take on Robertson.
