Five-star Bulli stay at the top

Bulli edged one step closer to the League Championship with an emphatic 5-0 win over Cringila Lions at Balls Paddock on Sunday.

Dylan Lewis, Marcus Beattie, Tobin Zoomers, Ben McDonald and Guy Knight all scored in the five goal demolition.

Lewis opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes and the ladder leaders were never headed from that point on.

“We needed to start well and we did,” Bulli coach Matt Bailey said of the performance.

“We set the tone early and scored our first goal in the first couple of minutes which really set us up for the rest of the match.”

The result ensures Bulli maintain a one point advantage on Wollongong Olympic at the top of the competition with two rounds remaining.

The two heavyweight clubs will face-off in the final regular season round, but Bulli meet Corrimal Rangers before then.

“It’s a funny one with that game last round but we just have to continue preparing like we have all season because we know these games are dangerous,” Bailey said.

“We have to treat them with the utmost respect.

“We have worked hard through the duration of the season and we need that to continue up until the last game.”

Olympic kept the pressure on their title rivals 24 hours earlier with a similarly commanding 3-0 win over Picton Rangers.

Olympic take on South Coast United in the penultimate round of the season. The Fury’s title defence came to an end after they drew 0-0 with Wollongong United.
