Well now you can with Deliveroo officially starting deliveries from lunchtime on Thursday when the app goes live in Wollongong.
“The best way to order is you can go to the Apple store on iTunes and download the iPhone app or Android,” Australia country manager Levi Aron said.

Wollongong is the second regional city in Australia to have a Deliveroo on-demand delivery service.
A soft launch proved a successful trial during the last week and now ordering your favourite meals is as simple as downloading the app and placing an order.
Geelong was the first regional city to get Deliveroo last month and Mr Aron said Wollongong was chosen as the second after market research revealed it was a perfect location.
“Until now we have been in metropolitan areas in major cities and we decided to really look at the market in Wollongong. We wanted to understand the customers in the area so we studied over the last six months the types of restaurants there are there, customers and demographics. Both Geelong and Wollongong, as we move into regional areas, are perfect for us to jump into.”
The arrival of Deliveroo has already created work for 30 riders who deliver meals within 30 minutes to people living or working in Wollongong, North Wollongong, Gwynneville, Kieraville, Coniston, Mangerton and West Wollongong.
Mr Aron said in the future Deliveroo would look at other parts of the Illawarra including Shellharbour.
“We looked at the population density and it was really important to start in an area with a really healthy restaurant supply to start with,” he said.
“We want to get in there (Wollongong) and educate people about this as a new way that you can get great food and feel really good about it as well. We want to build up the restaurants and the loyalty from customers as well as the rider knowledge and understanding by providing them a lot of training and induction. But then in the coming months we will expand that further. We will look at Shellharbour and a few other areas which are definitely on our radar.”
Mr Aron said Deliveroo had a fantastic response to delivery positions as well as from local eateries. Restaurant partners already include:
- Rookie Eatery,
- Cold Rock Ice Creamery,
- Hello Harry,
- Amigos Mexican,
- Dagwood Bar & Kitchen,
- JJ's Indian,
- Jimmy's Burger Bar,
- Outback Jack's, Bar & Grill,
- Ghedia's Indian Restaurant,
- Sugar Cube Wollongong, Casablanca On Crown,
- T's Kopitam Restaurant,
- Zambrero,
- Curry Village,
- Guzman Y Gomez,
- Kurtosh House No.5 Wollongong,
- Little Vietnam,
- His Boy Elroy, and
- Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar.
“We’ve seen an overwhelming positive response on the restaurants’ social media pages from us announcing that we’ll soon be offering delivery,” Mr Aron said.
“When we spoke to the restaurants many were already really familiar with Deliveroo. We have been in Australia since November 2015 and many people are aware of the brand. When we spoke to them they were actually quite surprised we were coming to Wollongong so soon. The welcome was really good. The restaurants were really excited about hopping on board. And we are looking forward to bringing a lot more restaurants to the table.”
Mr Aron said the response for delivery positions was very strong and many people were either uni students or doing it as a second job or in between jobs.
“We have already put on 30 riders. Some of them will be on mopeds, some will be on motorbikes and there will even be some in cars,” he said.
“What we are finding is people are looking at flexible ways of working. Some of the riders work 9 to 5 and then are doing deliveries in the evening when we typically find most of the amount of orders happening on our pop-up platform. And then there are others studying or between a few different things and are looking for new ways of working and having flexibility around what they want to do.”
Tyson Williams has been delivering around Wollongong for the last week and yesterday made his first delivery from His Boy Elroy where he said everyone was excited to see him.
He runs his own business but also enjoys doing delivery work.
He uses his own motorcycle and said he loved meeting people he delivered meals to. He said everyone was happy to see him.
Mr Williams said many of the people he knew who had accepted positions were uni students.
His Boy Elroy’s Ben Hudson said he and his team were excited to join the pioneering service.
“We’ve seen an overwhelming positive response on the restaurant's social media pages from us announcing that we’ll soon be offering delivery,” he said.
Mr Aron said people at work, at home or even at a favourite spot like a park could schedule orders via the Deliveroo app up to one day in advance or receive food as soon as possible between 11.45am and 10pm.
