St Joseph’s Catholic High School is undertaking a redesign and development of its design and technology area. This part of the school has provided the classrooms needed for the teaching of woodwork, metalwork, electronic and construction since the school was opened in 1982.
It is now time to bring these areas up to date to provide 21st century learning environments for their students and teachers. The redesign of this area will allow the school to meet new expectations which come from the emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education.
STEM is a worldwide refocus of education on these core areas of learning.

“Here at St Joseph’s we want to provide the most modern facilities so that our students and teachers can explore these critical curriculum areas,” a spokesperson said.
“The TAS area will be redesigned and rebuilt so that it reflects this emphasis. It will become our STEM/TAS area of the school, providing contemporary learning spaces and up to date technology so that the best outcomes for students can be achieved.
“This rebuilding is part of our ‘Making a Better School’, a school which promotes learning but also promotes the key values of Respect and Responsibility values which lead to better results for all.
“We do this in the context of a Catholic Christian education which strives to help young people achieve their best and do their best both for themselves and for their community.”
