While a crack at next month’s Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle remains a possibility for his five-year-old, Parker says it’s not at the top of his agenda for his daughter of Pendragon. 

“If we could get some sort of black type around those Group 3 mares races I would be happy, but at this stage I want to see her back and then we will work out from there,” he said.

“I just want to get her back in form.

“Her last few starts have been a bit iffy. She has been under a few niggling injury clouds.

“Going into her return this week she seems sound and that is my main concern.”

Heartlings will make her return from a spell in the Tab.com.au Benchmark 79 Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. 

Parker opted to give his five-year-old a break after she pulled up lame following her last run in April.

The trainer believes she has now put the issue behind her leading into a first-up tilt in town. 

“She seems really good,” Parker said.

“I liked her trial at Randwick last week and thought she hit the line well.

“It looks like a nice starting point for her.

“She is still a bit woolly in the coat but I think this will bring her on. She is going really well at home, she just has to produce it at the races.” 

Heartlings has drawn well in barrier four and will be ridden by Jay Ford.

Heartlings was a $15 fixed odds hope with the TAB on Tuesday afternoon. Chris Waller trained Awoke held favouritism at $3.60.
